Should I call ahead to book an appointment?
Yes. It is best to book an appointment in order for us to accommodate you and your pet(s). Should your pet(s) need emergency care during regular business hours, please contact our clinic right away.
Do you make house calls?
Yes. We do offer house calls should the need ever arise. You can contact our office at (519) 442-2522 to make any arrangements. Please note that house calls are only offered during regular business hours.
What types of animals do you treat?
We take care of all small domestic pets such as dogs, cats, rodents and pocket pets. Unfortunately we do not currently treat any reptiles, fish or birds. We are also a fully equipped large animal mobile veterinary clinic
What are accepted methods of payment?
We accept cash, Interac, Mastercard and Visa. Please be advised that payment is required at time of service, unfortunately we can no longer accept personal cheques.
Why do the prices for similar services and products vary among different veterinarians?
The Ontario Veterinary Medical Association provides veterinarians with a publication of suggested fees according to average costs. Each individual veterinarian then establishes prices for these services and products based on what is included with certain procedures such as medications, supplies, etc.
What is involved in the annual physical examination and why is this necessary for my pet to be vaccinated?
The physical examination is a thorough nose to tail check over of your pet(s). It allows our veterinarians to assess your pets’ physical health and also determines whether or not your pet(s) can be vaccinated. This is also the opportunity for you, the owner, to mention any concerns or questions you may have regarding your pet(s). The veterinarian will also provide you with any recommendations to ensure your pet lives a happy and healthy life.
My pet is on a long term medication, how do I get this refilled?
Prescriptions can be refilled by contacting the clinic. In many cases, your pets’ medical condition may require regular monitoring and/or testing to ensure your pet is receiving the proper dose of medication. These appointments should be booked prior to running out of your pets’ medication
Why should I have my pet spayed or neutered?
There are many benefits to your pets’ health and well being by having them spayed or neutered, including reducing the risk of your pet developing certain types of cancer late on in life. One of the main benefits is also helping to reduce any unwanted/unplanned litters thus preventing the pet population from increasing.
Pets can be spayed/neutered at approximately 6 months of age and are required to be up to date on all vaccinations. A pre-anesthetic blood profile is recommended with all pets prior to undergoing any surgical procedure to ensure that they are healthy and can tolerate the anesthetic.
What is the pre-anesthetic blood profile and why is it recommended?
The pre-anesthetic blood profile is a blood test that we perform in-clinic; generally done the morning of your pets’ surgery. This blood test can detect hidden illness and some congenital diseases. It helps to ensure that your pet can properly process and eliminate the anesthetics that we use. Additionally, it helps to reduce any risks and complications and also provides a baseline for future reference should your pet ever become ill.
What is pet health insurance and how do I know if my pet is eligible?
There are currently multiple pet health insurance companies that provide coverage for your pet(s) in the event of a sudden accident or illness. Each company provides different levels of coverage and also have various premiums and deductibles. We highly recommend considering pet health insurance for your pet(s), as it can be quite helpful in these circumstances and also provides peace of mind knowing your pet is covered.
Can I board my dog or cat at your clinic while I am away?
Yes. We do offer pet boarding services which include interaction with our staff, walks, and feeding. All bedding, litterboxes and feeding bowls are all provided for your pet(s) while here, however, you may also bring your pets’ favourite toys etc. All pets need to be up to date on vaccinations prior to coming in for boarding including Bordetalla (kennel cough) for dogs.
Do you offer grooming services?
We have an on-site groomer and are able to do grooming for both dogs and cats throughout the week. Please contact the clinic with any further questions, including pricing and to book an appointment.
Personalized Flea and Parasite Control
Annual deworming and flea prevention is recommended to ensure your pet is healthy and comfortable. Depending on your pet’s environment and lifestyle, we can help develop an appropriate prevention program.
What items SHOULD NOT be given to pets?

What if my pet requires after-hour emergency care?
We are closely associated with the Brant-Norfolk Veterinary Clinic which provides all after-hour monitoring and emergency care for our clients and their pets. They can be reached at (519)720-0753 during evening, weekend and holiday hours. If your pet is ever hospitalized and requires overnight monitoring and/or treatment, they are transferred to the Brant-Norfolk Veterinary Clinic and transferred back to our clinic the next morning.
